Student Viewpoints on... 24/7 Learning

You have been introduced to the power and potential for learning with a MacBook computer. Now, imagine the possibility of having this tool in your backpack 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What benefits to your learning would this create? What problems, if any, would arise if every student had their own school-issued MacBook. Brainstorm possible projects, learning opportunities, and things that would change if O'Neill adopted a 24/7 Learning Initiative.

We should get macbook labtops so we will always get out work done. We will be more willing to do our homework, and if you are sick you can get your asignment from your teachers website. You will be able to do your homework more eficiantly because we will have the knoledge of the internet. The students won't be saying that they lost their homework because it will all be on the mac.

I think that it would be a good idea we could learn lots of stuff all the time. We can get our homework off of our teachers websites. We could lisen to podcast that the teacher has made for the class.

I think that having a Macbook would be great because if you were sick you could have the teacher email you that assignment or video the day a make a podcast. They could also become handy so you don't have to carry around alot of books. we wouldn't have to have as many notebooks, pens, and paper.

Having Macbooks issued to each student would benefit us students because if someone is sick, the built-in camera and microphone could be used to send what happened in class to them as a podcast. Heavy books and binders will no longer cause back and shoulder aches from heavy bookbags. Students will also be more willing to do homework and have more responsibility. The chance of losing homework lessens because all of your homework will be stored on the computer.

I think it would be a great idea to start 24/7 learning. It would help many people get more orginized, be more willing to get their homework done, and learn more than they were asigned. Many teachers already have their own websites, with assignments and study guides we could print off. It would be so much easier to get more information about pretty much everything. It might be a small problem of the laptops getting damaged, but I think with them being distributed to us by the school, and knowing the cost, we would be more responsible. I know I would be way more willing to do my homework. If we do get the 24/7 learning program we will see a huge improvement in grades, homework getting done, and students attitude in wanting to learn.

I think the labtops would be great to have. First of all that you wouldn't have to lug the heavy books around the school. But it might be truble because someone might drop theres. They would be really helpful for teachers and students so they would save some storage and the teacher would have controle the computer. Homwork would be great because it would all be in the same plae.

I would love to have my own computer to carry with me all the time. It would make learning so much easier. If I didn't know something, all I would have to do is look it up and have it right infront of me instead of interrupting the teacher or having to waist my time waiting in line to use the next computer or being limited to using a laptop for a certain amount of time. I could learn all the time. It would allow me to be more organized with my school work, and it would make me want to do my homework more often or at a better effort because it would be more enjoyable to do. I can take it anywhere. And then I wouldn't waist my time in class trying to get something out. Instead, I click and it will be right infront of me. No more excuses that I forgot my homework or I forgot to do it because I would have my comuter with me at all times. I would want to have my computer at all times. Life at school will be more enjoyable. I would never waist my time at school; especially in class.

If we get a computer for each student we would'nt have as many problems with late or lost homework because it would be all in one place.

From Brady Petersen

I think we should have macbooks because we would be more willing to do homework because it would be more fun to do homework on the macbooks and I would be less likely to lose homework because we would have no reason to forget the homework because it would all be on the macbook. If we were ever sick someone in the class could turn around their macbook and use iChat to listen to what the teacher is saying and someone could email me the homework.
